SEO
Whether your business has been around for a while or if your’re just starting out, you’ve likely got a call or two or well ok more than you can remember at this point about search engine optimization aka SEO. Ever since the decline of the yellow pages more and more advertising companies started popping up touting SEO services and how they can get you on page one of Google. Let me just say, I don’t own Google so I cannot offer any guarantees, if I could I would. That said, we have been very sucessful with getting clients on page one with various methods. Feel free to check our Results Page. Here are some tips that you can ask the next company that calls you with amazing SEO claims:
What keywords phrases are you going to use?
How much local search is there for those keyword phrases?
How can you tell that my site will beat out someone else’s site that is already listed on page one?
What techniques do you use to get my site better rankings?
In asking these questions, the salesperson will clearly see that you have some understanding of SEO. If they can’t answer those questions for you, I recommend wishing them a good day and ask to be taken off their list. If they say “that’s proprietary information” then tell them you want to be certain they are not going to use any black hat or grey hat SEO tactics. They should be able to tell you what they are going to do to get you better rankings even if they don’t share the exact process. With SEO, 25% comes from what you do onsite (things you can change on your website) and 75% comes from efforts you do offsite (this is typically through building backlinks and it has to be done on the up an up or you’ll get yourself banished in the search engines – check my post on JC Penney).
We always use follow the proper guidelines in our SEO campaigns.
